Christmas In Europe

Next

In 2010 we decided to spend the week between Christmas and New Year;s on a trip down the Danube River from Nurenberg to Budapest.  We went with three other couples, Charlie and Sally Tucker, Al and Wanda Johnson, and Lee and Mary Briggs.  We arrived in Nurenberg to find the canal between there and Regensburg had frozen making it impossible for ships to navigate.  Fortunately they had moved the ship down to Regensburg before the canal froze so we could continue our trip by boat.  We were bussed to Regensburg overnight and returned to Nurenburg the next day for a scheduled tour of the city and the Kristkindle Markt. The next day we toured Regensburg.  We spent Christmas Day in Regensburg where we attended a wonderful concert in the St. Peter's Cathedral by the world famous Domspatzen boys choir along with other choirs of older members.  We then began our trip down the Danube toward Vienna where we attended the most elaborate New Year's Party of our lives.  The next morning we proceeded on the Budapest where after a couple of days touring we boarded a plane for our return home.  It was a wonderful trip.  There was snow most places and it was cold but we enjoyed every minute.
